About 5 months ago, Colleen’s friend told her about a volunteer opportunity at Food Finders Food Bank. Colleen had volunteered with Food Finders Food Bank at the “old location”, but she had not been to the Food Resource & Education Center (FREC) since it opened. Jumping-in at the opportunity, Colleen starting volunteering at the FREC regularly, helping in the pantry, the sort room and the clean room. Colleen’s favorite volunteer shift is serving in the pantry on Senior Shopping Day, so she can get to know the clients and listen to their stories. No matter what the task is, Colleen always approaches it with joy. When asked about why she volunteers, Colleen said, “It feels good to help.” Colleen’s word of encouragement to anyone who is thinking about volunteering is, “It’s a super rewarding experience. You’ll be happy you did it!”

When she is not volunteering at Food Finders, Colleen enjoys traveling and going to Purdue Women’s Basketball games with her daughter.
