Dear Friends,

Food Finders needs your help to continue offering the Mobile Pantry Program in 2019. Entering its tenth year, the Mobile Pantry Program has proven to have a vast impact in North Central Indiana by distributing meals and ensuring tens of thousands of families have the resources they need. The program began in 2010 as a way to reduce the strain on local food pantries. A mobile pantry distribution brings a minimum of 5,000 pounds of food serving 150-200 families in a 2-hour period. Each distribution costs the food bank $1500.

Our entire community benefits when families have access to nutritious food. According to Feeding America’s 2016 Map the Meal Gap report, 77,670 individuals are considered food insecure in North Central Indiana, including 23,340 children. Many of the “working-poor”, do not qualify for federal assistance or programs. Unfortunately, families in this group are caught in the gap between making “too much”, yet not enough to get by. Our local agency partners and Food Finders Food Bank’s direct service programs are often their only safety net.

We are asking each county to raise their own support to continue this important program. Without your support, Food Finders will be forced to reduce the number of mobile pantries provided in your county. Our goal is to host one distribution per county, per month across our 16-county service area. To do so costs the food bank $18,000 per county, annually. In previous years, Food Finders has subsidized the cost of the program asking for only $550 of the total $1500 needed per distribution to offset the cost. However, we can no longer carry the burden alone of ensuring we have consistent funding for this program.

This year we are seeking “County Cultivator” sponsors to help raise the total $18,000 needed for each county. Various sponsorship levels with new marketing opportunities are available and listed here: Mobile Pantry Sponsorship Menu. Food Finders will plan to have as many mobile pantries as funding allows in each county.

Will you help us commit to ensuring that your neighbors facing hunger have enough food to eat?

Please join us in pledging that families facing hunger across North Central Indiana will not have to worry about where their next meal will come from. Please do not hesitate to contact us for more information.

Thank you for supporting the future!

Sincerely,
