Currently, we serve residents and neighbors of Briarwood Apartments, an apartment community managed by the Gene B. Glick Company. To support our efforts to build community and create opportunity for those we serve, Glick Philanthropies made a $10,000 contribution to Food Finders Food Bank through the Glick Community Relief Fund, a grant program to help local nonprofit organizations continue to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.
To date, we have supported our communities by shifting our focus to our highest-impact programs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The programs that make the greatest impact on the people we serve are our JP Lisack Community Food Pantry, Mobile Pantry Program, Agency Partner Program, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Application Assistance Program.
The JP Lisack Community Food Pantry provides two distributions per week in a drive-through format in order to provide families in Tippecanoe County with a reliable source of nutritious foods in compliance with social distancing requirements to promote public health.
The Mobile Pantry Program provides at least one truckload of food in each of our 16 counties in North Central Indiana to supplement existing food resources, especially in areas where there are few pantries and soup kitchens.
The Mobile Pantry has also been converted to a drive-through with pre-packaged bags of food for the safety of the people we serve, our staff and volunteers.
Our Agency Partner Program includes 36 food pantries, meal programs and soup kitchens in Tippecanoe County. Food Finders provides these partner organizations resources that directly serve the community with nutritious food to keep their shelves stocked.
Our SNAP Application Assistance Program connects people we serve with staff members at Food Finders who can assist them in the process of applying for SNAP benefits, the largest federal nutrition assistance program.
With the additional support from Glick Philanthropies, we will be able to meet the rapidly growing need in our community. These funds will be directed to our highest-impact programs which are poised to make an immediate positive difference for Glick residents and the surrounding communities by meeting their immediate hunger needs.
