Congratulations Dave for being September’s Volunteer of the Month!
“I love working with people and giving back to my community” says Dave Windhorst, a volunteer who helps out twice a week at Food Finders Food Bank for more than 3 years. Dave helps with our Mobile Pantry on Tuesdays that goes to Kokomo and he sorts through non-perishable items in the Sort Room. Volunteers like Dave help Food Finders directly serve clients in areas where food is needed the most. Dave’s favorite part of volunteering is discovering weird food and working with other volunteers.
One of Dave’s first jobs was sorting through “over ripe” potatoes. He remembers that he had to suit up like as though he was going into surgery. “The smells and the looks of the potatoes will be ingrained in my mind forever”, but this did not stop Dave from volunteering again. He believes that FFFB is able to provide food for folks who are in need through the variety of programs FFFB offers.
Thank you Dave for your years of service!
