BestHuntingAdvice.com reports that Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry, a state-wide nonprofit dedicated to helping those in need by providing nutritious protein, is helping hunters across the state of Indiana to feed those less fortunate this year. Through a partnership with the DNR, hunters can take deer to one of the certified processors listed on the Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry website, and donate the meat for free. Processing fees are waived.
“Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry encourages both hunters and farmers to donate large game, cattle, poultry and hogs. There are no charges or fees to the donor; they just take the livestock or wild game to one of our participating inspected butchers. The butcher will cut and package the meat into family size packages for distribution by local food banks and other food assistance organizations.” To read more about this exciting program, visit their website.
