For the third year, Food Finders is hosting the annual Drive Away Hunger fall food drive! For this community-wide effort, we bring together local businesses, schools, churches and community organizations through a series of food drive efforts for the Food Bank. This year, we’re kicking off this 6-week long event with the national Make A Difference Day.
For years, USA WEEKEND Magazine, Points of Light, and Gannett have joined together to sponsor Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of community service. This is a day of celebration of neighbors helping neighbors across the country and throughout the Food Finders community. In order to meet the our goal, we need community-wide participation throughout the Drive Away Hunger campaign. Food Finders’ serves 16 counties in Mid-North Indiana. Nearly 86,000 residents in our service area struggle with food insecurity each day. To meet the growing demand and to ensure that there is plenty of food for the winter months, we have set the 2013 Drive Away Hunger goal at 150,000 meals!
In order to reach this community-wide goal, we need your help. Organize a food drive at your home, office, or community center. It’s so easy and everyone truly can make a difference! See what the amazing students at Lafayette Jeff High School did to show their support! It is as simple as setting out a box or bag and encouraging your friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers to collect non-perishable food items to fill it up. Join us October 26 – December 2. TOGETHER we can Drive Away Hunger.
