Where does the food come from?
Most of the food we distribute is provided by the food industry, which donates surplus and salvageable products. Donations include: surplus supermarket items, fresh produce, production overruns, unsold breads, mislabeled goods - all safe and nutritious, but for one reason or another, unmarketable.
Food Finders also receives food from local food drives and distributes food on behalf of various state and federal feeding programs.
Financial contributions are often used to purchase wholesale quantities of staple food items that are in high demand, but generally not available through donations. Items such as beef patties, ham, poultry, and peanut butter can be purchased by agencies at prices below those of local stores and wholesale clubs.
