HOW CAN I MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Donate Food and Grocery Products
Nutritious food items such as cereal, soups, canned fruit and vegetables, boxed meals.
Nonfood items such as paper goods, diapers, hygiene items.
Gifts of cash no matter how small, do make a difference.
Volunteer in your community
- Share your time and talents with those less fortunate, encourage family members to join in.
- Sort food at the food bank.
- Serve food at a community meal.
- Pick up donations from a local business.
- Participate in local “foodraising” events such as:

Host a Food Drive
- Join together with your friends, co-workers or neighbors to host a food drive.
- Work with church leaders to organize a food drive at your church.
- Encourage family and friends to donate at special times for the family, such as birthdays and anniversaries, so that everyone may share in their joy.
Spread the word about hunger
- Send a letter to the editor of your local paper.
- Tell your friends and family about the issue so they can spread the word.
- Write your state and national legislators to show support for public policies that will eliminate hunger.
With more young people than ever before interested in volunteering, we respectfully ask that volunteer groups with very young children plan to bring adult supervision or consider choosing outside activities to help the such as:
Hold a food drive.
Hike in Hunger Hike, September 19, 2010 raising funds through pledges.
Participate in Letter Carriers Food Drive, May 8, 2010. Leave food out for postman
Vounteer for Community Harvest Food Drive ~ October 2010.
Help fill special food backpacks at local schools.
Host a yard sale to donate proceeds to the food bank.
