Food Finders Food Bank Is Taking Action!
September is Hunger Action Month, when we ask all Americans to play a role in ending domestic hunger. As a Feeding America food bank, Food Finders is calling upon our community and all of mid-north Indiana to take action.
Feeding America has teamed up with celebrities to tell the real stories of Americans struggling with hunger. Watch the videos, share them with your friends, and learn how to take action in our community. Whether it’s by advocating and raising awareness, making donations, or giving of your time and energy, everyone can play a role in ending hunger during Hunger Action Month.
30 Ways in 30 Days
It's as easy as that! By remembering those going hungry one time each day, we can help raise awareness in our community and advocate to others. Download our 30 Ways in 30 Days calendar for creative ideas and community-wide events for fighting hunger. Activities range from changing your Facebook status to finding out how to support your local food bank and Feeding America through our corporate partners. These activities are great for individuals as well as families and chilren.
What Hunger Means to Us
Hunger affects communities all across the country—rural, urban, and suburban. The USDA reports that 50 million Americans are uncertain of where they will find their next meal, including 17 million children and 3.5 million seniors—that’s 1 in 6 Americans and nearly 1 in 4 children.
Our nation is in recovery from a massive recession, millions of Americans are faced with food insecurity – and we’re working harder every day to assist individuals and their families right here in mid-north Indiana in these tough economic times. It’s a daily challenge, and we are always looking for new ways to meet it head on. Hunger Action Month is crucial time to raise awareness, and get people involved in fighting hunger, throughout September and beyond.
